Exhibition Stand Design Australia

Designed around how visitors actually engage, not just how stands look.

Most exhibition stands look good. Few of them work.

Walk any major Australian trade show — Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane — and you’ll see it. Stands that photograph beautifully, win design awards, and quietly fail to qualify a single serious lead.

The problem isn’t aesthetics. It’s that most stands are designed as objects to admire, not environments to engage in.

We start every project from the opposite direction. We ask what the visitor needs to feel, do and decide, then design the stand around that. The result is exhibition stand design that earns attention, holds it, and converts it.

What engagement-led design actually looks like

A stand should answer four questions before a visitor walks in:

  • Why am I here?
  • What can I see, touch or do?
  • Who do I talk to first?
  • What happens next?

Get those four right and a 24m² stand will out-perform a 100m² one. Get them wrong and the budget barely matters.

OUR APPROACH

The way we design

01 — Strategy first, sketch second

We start with your goal — leads, launches, brand position — then work backwards into the structure of the stand. Decisions at this stage save weeks of rework later.

02 — Designed for the visitor's path

Every metre of floor space has a job. Where they enter. Where they pause. Where they qualify. Where they leave with intent.

03 — Built to be measured

Lead capture, dwell time, scanned visitors, follow-ups. We design the stand so the result can be quantified — not guessed.

Lead capture isn’t a tool you bolt on. It’s a moment you design for.

Proof, not promises

Chris Lamb founded The Exhibit Company in 2011, but he’s been designing and delivering exhibition stands for over 40 years — since the early 1980s. The work has shipped to MCEC, ICC Sydney, Brisbane Convention Centre, and venues across the country.

What we don’t do is hand you a render and hope. Every project ships with a clear stand brief, a measurable engagement plan, and a debrief afterwards so the next show is better than the last.

Designed in Australia, built for Australia

We work with exhibitors at every major Australian venue — MCEC and Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, ICC Sydney and Royal Hall of Industries, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Perth Convention Centre, and Adelaide Showground.

Local logistics matter. So do local relationships with venue managers, riggers and bump-in crews. Ours have been built over four decades in the industry — they make every show smoother.

Questions exhibitors actually ask us

How is engagement-led design different from "good" design?

Good design is judged by how a stand looks. Engagement-led design is judged by what visitors do once they’re inside it. We design for the second.

We have a small budget. Is custom design worth it?

Most often, yes — because a poorly designed 18m² stand costs as much to ship and install as a well-designed one. The bigger waste is the show itself. A good design at any size will pay for itself in qualified leads.

Can you reuse our existing stand?

Often, yes. We can refresh, re-skin and re-engineer existing stands rather than start from scratch.

What about the build, install and bump-out?

All of it is in-house and Australia-wide.

Do you only design stands, or do you advise on trade show strategy too?

Both. Our sister company OSCAR works with exhibitors on the strategic side — show selection, lead targets, post-event measurement.
